There are many definitions out there about rape, who can be raped, what counts as rape and what doesn’t, etc etc. But for the purpose of this blog, rape is the act of ANY and ALL sexual intercourse (oral sex is also included) that occurs without the consent of an individual.
It usually involves the use of force, violence, intimidation; it sometimes involves the abuse of power and the threat of injury as the victim fears for their safety.
As you go through this blog please keep in mind that rape can happen to anyone, yes women/young girls/females are usually the victims of rape and sexual assault but men/young boys can also be raped. Rape and sexual assault isn’t just limited to one sex and/or gender.
